We went to Erotica LA. We shot 7 hours of footage interviewing porn stars. We lost the footage several times due to a faulty hard drive. Now, we have a preview of what it soon to come (remember to click ‘Watch in High Quality‘):

Every new uWink venue that is opened can only mean one thing: new innovative ideas and revolutionary pieces of technology spawned from the creative hyve mind of Nolan Bushnell and his kin.

Daily Bruin reporter Jessica Lum and I attended uWink Hollywood’s media event, where we enjoyed some genuine uWink cuisine, played some social games and met up with Nolan Bushnell and his two children Allissa and Brent to talk about the ever evolving uWink franchise (a short interview with Nolan Bushnell will follow soon!).

A huge thanks goes out to my good gaming amigo Rob Welkner and his co-host Hailey Bright from Coin-op.TV for being such awesome people to hang out with and for letting us lend their camera after ours went into a coma!

Especially with Metal Gear Solid 4 freshly released for the PS3 and games like God of War: Chains of Olympus rocking the sales of the PSP, the Playstation brand is desperately in need of some marketing that makes me feel like (finally) buying some of their stuff. As we mentioned before, it didn’t come as a surprise to hear that a part of the adult movie stars we interviewed had already undertaken several game industry related projects. I just wanted to hightlight one of my favorites (projects thats is), involving lovely miss Justine Joli. Geek, dancer, Penthouse pet and a genuine polymath, Justine recently joined with DasGamer.com (a Complex.com project) to start doing short reviews:

“After seeing the kind of grip Joli has pop culture, and the hypnotic power she seems to have over comic geeks, we figured she could handle some light review duties. Now she’s going to handle the occasional handheld game review in her new column, Girl on Game.”

Good luck and have fun Justine! We’ll definitely be seeing her hypnotize some  game developers at this year’s E3.

Aside from Justine’s gaming adventures, we’ve also heard the following interesting rumors during Erotica LA:

Jenna Haze is coming to Xbox Live very soon!
Tera Patrick is currently working with THQ on a project, which will be announced in a week or two from now!
Evan Seinfeld, Tera Patrick’s husband, actually voice-acted in GTA4, but hasn’t found back his character (presumable a bouncer) in the game yet!

Eureka! We found some significant scientific results on the gamer nerd nature of adult movie stars. Now of course, this was just an exploratory, qualitative ethnographic study. You can expect the full research paper at the next big game research conference near you!

But first, our sincere thanks to everyone we interviewed, the lovely PR people from AVN and everyone else we met and talked with! We owe it to you to turn the Erotica LA footage in the best possible webshow EVAR!

The biggest outcome of all? Almost 99% of our interviewees would love to work in or with the game industry (if they haven’t done so already). So game devs & publishers, you know what to do! Oh yes, and almost everyone loves GTA 4.

My good friend Chris and I are at Erotica LA 08 this weekend. We thought we’d do a little field research on an interesting issue. Our hypotheses kind of looks like this:

Hotels surrounding the Las Vegas Convention Center have officially opened hotel reservations for the period around the Consumer Electronics Show 2009. Lucky for me, I found out about this by talking to a lovely employee of the CEA during the LA game conference. Better be quick with booking though! I was just getting my two person hotel room at the Circus Circus, about half a mile away from the convention center, when the total price of my stay suddenly jumped up $150. Yikes, never lost money that quick!

I just learned a very important lesson about big ass game related shows and thought I’d share it with you:
