San Francisco is one of those cities you just want to go back to multiple times! The city just has all the social ingredients that make it a perfect spot for meetings and conferences!
I’m heading over there next week for the MI6 Game Marketing Conference in the Grand Hyatt on Union Square for some interviews and general coverage.

So what better way to celebrate the end of every quarter than by running around in your underwear? Plain brilliance I tell you!
Evidently, I felt obliged to join in the fun. UCLA Undie Run, Woohoo!

Though it has nothing to do with videogames in ANY kind of way, some pictures have landed on the VGV Flickr.

I came to LA to take some time off, kick back and rediscover myself.
I did and just realized that I really love what I do and want to do it more. That and visit more conventions. So here’s our next stop:

Yes, the wonderful world of the comic book industry has captured my heart and seems to be offering quite some interesting material for a story. Apart from looking for a Storm Trooper suit and taking pictures with Sci-Fi celebs, I’ll be heading over there to talk to several artists and publishers about their ties and relationship with the game industry.
After all, we’re serving the same kind of popular culture hungry audience!
Update: Didn’t take a lot of pictures, but you can find a couple over at the VGV Flickr.

The free segment is already a whopping 64 pages big, which also includes the fruits of the GDC coverage done by yours truly shaped into an article and an interview. My other three GDC related articles can be found in the premium part of the magazine. Enjoy!
Last year, juli 20th, Sebastian and I attended a co-creation event in Utrecht. An organisation called LaborLab wanted to create a social career network. A network where (dutch) people could meet co-workers, exchange knowledge and create an online résumé.
VGV was there at the first co-creation event. Lots of ideas were posted and the evening was a blast.
Yesterday, over six months later, JobCircle went live. VGV attended the launch party, it was a great party. Lots of snacks, drinks and ofcourse: the site was open for registration.
Good luck to all at JobCircle, LaborLab and MyUnion!

You can sign up here if this looks like something for you. Apparently, the first 10.000 registrations get a year free premium service.

The registrations went live about two weeks ago. For all of you who remember the good times of the Digra 2003 in Utrecht, here’s your chance to relive those days of glory! With both a track in business ánd science, there’s something for all of us who like to hopscotch their way through a conference.
“The Festival of Games in Utrecht is one of the largest professional game festivals in Europe. It offers a stage and big scope for the fast growing European game development market. A main thought leader conference, different workshops, a professional expo including a career fair for human resources and headhunters – and a serious connection. Utrecht NLGD Festival of Games is the premier platform and meeting opportunity for the European games community and is open for registration now.”
I really need to find something good to do here in the US during that period, or else I’ll hate my own guts for not having hopped on a plane for it!
