As much as I love posting stuff in trio’s, here’s the two posts I found about our game:
Control Magazine chose our art was the best for their post
IndependentlySpeaking.com thought we trained their senses
Update:
Gamer.nl quotes Pulse as a ‘favorite’

So here’s the game if you want to try it out. Please don’t forget to vote 5 on the Global Gamejam Website
! Thx!
The circle is complete. My dream has come true. After organizing game events, doing research on the game industry and writing for game magazines, I’ve finally got to work on a game! My team was an awesome bunch of creative folk to work with, so I guess that worked out quite well. Ladies and gentlemen, this is ‘Pulse‘:

And guess what, we won! Our rhythmic co-op music game won the popular vote. Stay tuned for a playable version!
Next personal goal: voice-acting!

Good timing to have gotten my article on this year’s Tokyo Game Show 2008 in there. Right before the visitors of ‘Het Media Event’ bought up all the GMR Magazines at the HUB booth.
Too bad nobody could give me an exact count. I bet it’s in the thousands. No! Millions!

Next time you put your top of the line Apple computers on display with a working internet connection, make sure you block porn sites. Macs can do that, right?

Even though the only game publisher at ‘Het Multimedia Event’ was Microsoft, Call of Duty: World at War was playable at 4 different gaming booths. It was for sale at many more. Let’s start the count, shall we?
VGVisionary once again invaded the annual NPOX Festival for public broadcasters, providing gaming fun and wisdom for all. This time both Ubisoft and Activision joined up. A lot of happy faces were made thanks to the recently released titles both publishers brought along.

Check out the pictures Patrick took at the VGV Flickr gallery, right here.

Back when the project was still called the Dutch Game Factory, I had the privilege to experience how this project got set up from scratch. It took Viktor Wijnen, DGG’s business director, a motherload of work, planning and meetings to get this off the ground. Now they’re ready to officially launch it:
“During the Expo at the NLGD Festival of Games, to be held from the 18th to 20th of June, Dutch Game Garden will officially open its doors. The kickoff will be delivered on June 19th, with an introduction of already involved partners, a launch of the Developer’s Club, the Incubator and the Business Center plans, and of course a collective toast. Besides this festive event it is of course possible to meet us at our festival booth during the entire Expo.”

First pictures just got in! As far as my eyes can tell from over here in Los Angeles, everyone is having a great time exploring ‘our world’ at the Beeld en Geluid GameXperience. VGVisionary representative Sebastiaan will be going back to also cover the next two days, so be sure to say hi to him if you get the chance! Click here to view the pictures on the VGVisionary Flickr

I never thought I’d see the day that the VGVisionary logo would be placed right next to names as Xbox 360, EA, Atari and many other companies and institutes I once admired as a kid. Dream come true, right there! It is therefore my pleasure to announce that VGVisionary is an official partner and supporter of the Beeld en Geluid GameXperience, which is going to be held in Hilversum, The Nederlands, on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May 2008.
So why is this so special? Simple. The Beeld en Geluid GameXperience is officially the first publicly open event in the Netherlands that is aimed to inform the public on the background and current state of the game industry. In other words: Dutch game history in the making!
VGVisionary representative Sebastiaan Mennen will be attending the Beeld en Geluid GameXperience to provide photo and video coverage of the event.
Update: Our official press release can be found here.

The free segment is already a whopping 64 pages big, which also includes the fruits of the GDC coverage done by yours truly shaped into an article and an interview. My other three GDC related articles can be found in the premium part of the magazine. Enjoy!
Last year, juli 20th, Sebastian and I attended a co-creation event in Utrecht. An organisation called LaborLab wanted to create a social career network. A network where (dutch) people could meet co-workers, exchange knowledge and create an online résumé.
VGV was there at the first co-creation event. Lots of ideas were posted and the evening was a blast.
Yesterday, over six months later, JobCircle went live. VGV attended the launch party, it was a great party. Lots of snacks, drinks and ofcourse: the site was open for registration.
Good luck to all at JobCircle, LaborLab and MyUnion!

You can sign up here if this looks like something for you. Apparently, the first 10.000 registrations get a year free premium service.

The registrations went live about two weeks ago. For all of you who remember the good times of the Digra 2003 in Utrecht, here’s your chance to relive those days of glory! With both a track in business ánd science, there’s something for all of us who like to hopscotch their way through a conference.
“The Festival of Games in Utrecht is one of the largest professional game festivals in Europe. It offers a stage and big scope for the fast growing European game development market. A main thought leader conference, different workshops, a professional expo including a career fair for human resources and headhunters – and a serious connection. Utrecht NLGD Festival of Games is the premier platform and meeting opportunity for the European games community and is open for registration now.”
I really need to find something good to do here in the US during that period, or else I’ll hate my own guts for not having hopped on a plane for it!
